Wahroonga Church closure due to COVID-19

Holy Name Catholic Church at Wahroonga has been closed as a precautionary measure due to a parishioner who attended the church on Sunday 23 August testing positive for COVID-19. Bishop Anthony Randazzo has announced the church will be closed for immediate deep cleaning until further notice.

NSW Health has assessed the risk to clergy and parishioners being low (casual contacts) due to the COVID safety procedures the parish had in place for worshippers at all services held at the church. These included social distancing, hand sanitising and the wearing of masks.

Anyone who attended the 9.30am Mass on Sunday 23 August is advised to monitor for symptoms and if symptoms appear, isolate immediately and get tested for COVID-19.

The fact sheet outlining the process for casual contacts can be accessed here: https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/factsheets/Factsheets/casual-contacts.pdf.

The parish is working to advise those present at this service, whose attendance was recorded, of the NSW Health directives, and will continue to follow the NSW Health advice.
