24 June 2021
On Friday 18 June
at Sacred Heart Church, Mona Vale, in the Pittwater Parish, Salvatorian Fathers, along wtih Lay Salvatorians and
candidates joined in a celebration to offer thanksgiving. Bishops, priests, parishioners from the Salvatorian parishes of Pittwater,
Revesby, Pymble and Gosford, and other interested people, gathered to celebrate the many significant
moments that have occurred for the Salvatorian family.
This year marks 140
years since the foundation of the Salvatorians and 60 years of Salvatorians
ministering in Australia. In addition, the Church has now recognised their
founder, Fr Francis Mary of the Cross Jordan, for his virtuous life by way of
his beatification on 15 May, 2021.
The principal
celebrant of the thanksgiving Mass was Most Reverend Anthony Randazzo, Bishop
of Broken Bay. He was joined by Bishop Bernard O’Grady (retired bishop from Solomon Islands,
now residing in Pittwater), Bishop Karol Kulczycki SDS (Salvatorian Bishop from Port
Pirie) and Fr George Kolodziej SDS (Australian Regional Superior) and other Salvatorian Clergy.
The Mass and supper
that followed were a time of great joy and reunion for the Salvatorian
community in NSW. Many people have had their lives touched by Blessed Francis
Jordan and his society of the Salvatorians. It was an excellent forerunner of
the celebration for all Australian Salvatorians, to be held in Perth on 8 September this year.
