New Mural for St Agatha's Catholic School

2 September 2021

Mr Michael Hutchinson, Principal of St Agatha's Catholic Primary School in Pennant Hills, wanted to commemorate 200 years of Catholic Education in Australia. His vision included making significant changes to the aesthetics of a large wall at the school and to bring this vision to life, he commissioned the Academic Head of Visual Arts, Mrs Marie Hogan, from Oakhill College at Castle Hill.

Starting with a blank canvas, Mrs Hogan spray painted the 10m x 2.5m high wall with a stunning mural, a legacy for the vibrant community of St Agatha’s that will last forever.

The mural features St Mary MacKillop, Australia's first saint, Fr Julian Tenison-Woods, her co-founder of the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart, past students and the current 21st Century students growing in the Catholic Education system entwined with subtle Australian themes throughout.

“I am honoured to create something so special for the Aggie's school community,” said Mrs Hogan.

Mr Hopkinson stated, “we are thrilled with the showpiece work and look forward to welcoming staff and students back to enjoy this legacy”.
