The newly established Diocesan Liturgical Commission has met for the first time, hoping to advance the liturgical life of the Diocese.
The Commission is comprised of a variety of people from across the Broken Bay and beyond, with a range of expertise in liturgy and the life of the Diocese.
The Commission is chaired by Fr Stephen Hacket MSC, Provincial Superior for Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, former Vicar General of the Diocese of Darwin, and former general secretary of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference.
Other members of the Commission include Fr Peter Dowd – Chaplin Royal North Shore Hospital, Fr Stephen Hill - Vicar General, Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of the Southern Cross, Fr Robert Borg – Diocesan Master of Ceremonies and Parish Priest at The Lakes, Simon Hyland – Catholic Schools Broken Bay, Kelly Paget- Chancellor & Director of Mission for Mission Broken Bay, Joshua Willard – Director of Music, Pittwater Parish, and Libby McManus - Commission Minutes Secretary from Mission Broken Bay.
The members of the Commission have experience across music, pastoral ministry and Diocesan administration, and represent a variety of ages and backgrounds.
The Commission has been given a range of responsibilities, including to be fully informed on the state of pastoral liturgical activity in the Diocese.
It will also carry out faithfully those proposals in liturgical matters made by the competent authority and keep informed on the studies and programs taking place elsewhere in this field.
It may also suggest and promote practical programs that may contribute to the advancement of liturgical life, especially in the interests of aiding priests labouring in the Diocese.
