Holiness in Today's World

"God asks everything of us, yet he also gives everything to us. He does not want to enter our lives to cripple or diminish them, but to bring them to fulfilment.."

Tonight, the Vatican has officially released the Holy Father's new Apostolic Exhortation: Gaudete et Exsultate (Rejoice and be Glad) on the call to Holiness.

This Exhortation is the fifth magisterial document and Pope Francis’ third, Apostolic Exhortation after Evangelii Gaudium (‘The Joy of the Gospel’) in 2013, and Amoris Laetitia ( ‘The Joy of Love’) in 2016.

The goal of the ocument is to repropose the call to holiness in a practical way for our own time, with all its risks, challenges and opportunities. 'For the Lord has chosen each one of us “to be holy and blameless before him in love” (Eph 1:4).'

'Holiness is as diverse as humanity; the Lord has in mind a particular path for each believer, not just the clergy, the consecrated, or those who live a contemplative life. We are all called to holiness, whatever our role, “by living our lives with love and bearing witness”, and in the everyday turning to God.'
