Easter celebrated across Broken Bay

15 April 2021

The Easter Triduum was celebrated across all our parishes in Broken Bay, and what a joyful celebration it was!

After having churches closed last year for Easter, and for Christmas on the Northern Beaches, it was wonderful to have our church communities come together once more to celebrate the most holy season on our Christian Calendar.

Bishop Anthony Randazzo celebrated the Easter Triduum at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara, starting with the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday.

Gosford Parish's youth led an innovative Stations of the Cross on Good Friday, and a beautiful Easter Vigil on Holy Saturday. At Lower North Shore, a most beautiful Easter Vigil was celebrated at St Leonard’s Church in Naremburn, starting outside with the congregation where they lit the Paschal Candle, then processed into the church which was in darkness except for the candles everyone was holding (which were all light from the paschal candle).

At Kincumber they celebrated the Easter Triduum with some memorable ceremonies beginning Holy Thursday Evening Mass and the Altar of Repose set up in the narthex of the church, to Good Friday morning with the youth re-enacting the Stations of the Cross and the very special 3.00pm Passion. At the Easter Vigil, Fr Jose baptised 3 children and 1 adult and welcomed another adult into the church community. It was lovely to see many returning to the church in a COVID-safe way.
