Deacon Rosan Mathew says he’s excited and ready to serve, just a few days out from his priestly ordination.

Deacon Rosan will be ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Anthony Randazzo on Wednesday, 19th March, at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara.

It has been a long journey for Deacon Rosan, who began his discernment to the priesthood in India with a religious order. Now, more than a decade later and on the other side of the world, he will finally receive ordination to the priesthood and serve the People of God in Broken Bay.

“I’m really excited,” he said. “I’m looking forward to serving the Diocese of Broken Bay and the people of God.”

Deacon Rosan has been serving the people of The Entrance since his Diaconal Ordination in September.

He has served in various parishes on placement since joining the Diocese in early 2021. He completed his studies at Vianney College, Wagga Wagga.

He said his diaconal ministry has given him a taste of priestly ministry and prepared him to serve.

It’s given me great practical experience,” he said. “It’s been a taste of priesthood and of priestly ministry. It’s also helped me get to know the people and the Diocese too.”

His first assignment following his ordination will be as assistant priest at The Entrance, where he has also been serving for the past six months.

“I’m really looking forward to ministering to the people at The Entrance,” he said. “But my home is Broken Bay so I’m ready to serve wherever the Bishop calls me to serve.”

Everyone is welcome to join Deacon Rosan’s ordination to the priesthood, which will begin at 7:30pm on Wednesday. Refreshments will follow at The Light of Christ Centre.
