Bishop Anthony Randazzo has announced he will ordain Deacon Rosan Mathew to the Order of Presbyter and Kevin McGregor to the Order of Deacons during the 2025 Jubilee Year.
In a letter published on Monday, Bishop Anthony said he would ordain Deacon Rosan to the priesthood on Wednesday, 19 March 2025, the Solemnity of St Joseph, at 7:30pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara.
Deacon Rosan has been serving as a transitional deacon at the Parish of The Entrance since his diaconal ordination in September.
In the same letter Bishop Anthony also announced he would ordain Kevin McGregor as a permanent deacon for the Diocese on Tuesday, 4 March 2025 at 7:30pm at Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Waitara.
Kevin has been enrolled in the Program of Formation to the Diaconate for several years and was admitted as a Candidate for Sacred Orders in August.
Both ordinations represent an exciting time for the Diocese of Broken Bay, which has enjoyed a flurry of vocations in the past few years.
Fr Sam French, Fr Roger Delmonte, Fr Aldrian Valdehueza and Fr Hien Vu have all been ordained as priests of the Diocese of Broken Bay in the past three years, while Deacon Richard Houwing was ordained as a permanent deacon in 2023.
There are likely to be more ordinations in the next year or two. In the same announcement, Bishop Anthony also said he would admit as Candidates for Sacred Orders seminarians Huy Tran, Tân Nguyen and Shayne D’Cunha. All three men will enter their final year at the Seminary of the Good Shepherd in 2025, preparing for their ordination to the Diaconate.
