The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference has released an Election Statement 2025, guiding Catholics on what to consider ahead of voting in the 2025 Federal Election.

Over the weekend Prime Minister Anthony Albanese announced the Federal Election would take place on Saturday, May 3.

The statement opens by talking about the vital role Catholics have in shaping the nation's future, quoting Saint John Paul II who said we needed to build "a civilisation of love" and contribute "to the good of society in a spirit of truth, justice, solidarity, and freedom."

The statement also focused on four key issues for Catholics to reflect on before voting: the dignity and value of every human being, religious freedom and conscience rights, fairness, justice and the common good, and responsible stewardship of God’s creation.

It also includes a section on the principles of Catholic social teaching, and how the principles invite us all to respond to the ‘signs of the times’ by pursuing justice and peace.

The statement does not make any recommendations regarding voting for any particular party or individual.
