You’re walking in a spot that is so sacred. Trying to understand that Mary herself was here. The size of the new basilica was impressive – and that it is the most visited pilgrimage site in the world with 20 million visitors a year! I found seeing the older basilica fascinating, how tilted and bent it was as it is sinking into the earth.
