St Peter
At Jesus' call, St Peter "Left [his] nets and followed him" (Matthew 4:20), an act of extraordinary courage as his nets were in many ways his identity and his livelihood as a Fisherman. His nets were how he provided for his family and were the lens through which he viewed the world.
Jesus later named Peter 'Cephas' (meaning 'rock') and declared him as the first Pope of the Church. As a figure in the early Church, St Peter was instrumental in forming the doctrines and beliefs of the church through his writings. St Peter is an inspiration to all Catholics to have courage to trust in God's will.
