A meditation series of Christian prayer
Pope Francis has dedicated 2024 to the Year of Prayer in preparation for the 2025 Jubilee Year. The Pope has called on the faithful to “pray more fervently to prepare ourselves to live this grace-filled event properly and to experience the power of hope in God”.
He said this year is dedicated “to rediscovering the great value and absolute need for prayer, prayer in personal life, in the life of the Church, prayer in the world” and has asked the faith-filled to be “Pilgrims of Hope”.
It is not a year marked with particular initiatives, but a time to rediscover the value of prayer and the need for daily prayer in our Christian life.
Pope Francis said; “I am happy to think that the 2024 year preceding the Jubilee event will be dedicated to a great ‘symphony’ of prayer. First of all, to recover the desire to be in the presence of the Lord, to listen to him and adore him”. Prayer can be vocal prayer, meditation, and contemplation.
In Broken Bay, Fr David Ranson has prepared a series of video meditations on the various aspects of Christian prayer. Below is an introduction to this series by Fr David followed by a series of eight meditations introduced over time.
