Bishop Robert Barron at World Youth Day
The youth of the world came together excitedly in Lisbon for World Youth Day 2023. The theme for the event this year was, “Mary arose and went with haste” (Luke 1:39).
It was a wonderful occasion for young adults to encounter Jesus in the company of the universal Church. It was also an opportunity for the Holy Father and Church leadership to listen to young people, to teach, and form them in the Gospel, and ultimately send them towards their vocation and mission in the world.
At the link below, we can follow along with Bishop Barron during his time with the World Youth Day.
Travelogue with Bishop Robert Barron at World Youth Day 2023
Bishop Barron attended World Youth Day in Madrid (2011), Krakow (2016), and Panama (2019). At the links below, after his return from Lisbon, he tells us that in many ways, Lisbon was for him the most memorable during his time with the World Youth Day.
World Youth Day is one of Pope John Paul II’s greatest gifts to the Catholic Church, and it was a joy to attend World Youth Day 2023 in Lisbon. Over the span of just a few days, I was privileged to speak at five events. This World Youth Day was truly a memorable experience.
