Continuing the Legacy: Supporting the Parish through Planned Giving
Remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive’.
Acts 20:35
The Parish that we share and enjoy today has grown from the generosity of those who have been before us. We started in a simple wooden hall on Pymble Hill. The hall was replaced by a sandstone building in 1884. We later moved to a larger church on the hill, now the Ku Ring Gai Town Hall. From that, we built today’s Sacred Heart Church facility in Pymble. To maintain that legacy, we need to be able to fund current operations and maintain the facilities that have been generously built up over a long period of time. We need to ensure that our facilities are relevant into the future and we rely on our community to provide the vital funding to continue this work.
Our Planned Giving program has been an essential part of our history. Unfortunately, program activity has fallen dramatically over time. The coronavirus period was marked by enforced isolation and further reduction in Planned Giving activity. As we all know, cost of living pressure is having an impact on household budgets and on our parish budgets.
Your donations acknowledge the important role the parish has played in your life. Your contribution will, in turn, help to enrich the lives of those within our community today and continue that foundation for future generations.
You are invited to prayerfully consider your own situation and make a commensurate pledge to the parish Planned Giving program. Any contribution you are able to make will go to ensuring we can continue our work, enrich our community, and be available for those that follow.
The Planned Giving program within the Parish allows parishioners to support Parish finances with a commitment to donate funds at regular intervals. Parishioners can join the traditional envelope donation program or can donate through monthly credit or debit card donations. Registration forms are available at the back of the church and at the links below.
At the beginning of the program year, donation envelopes are available for collection at the back of the church. The envelopes are arranged in alphabetical order. Note that your envelope number may change from year to year.
You may also wish to consider a specific donation and/or bequest, a wonderful way to make a lasting contribution to your Parish. Please speak with the Parish office if you would like to contribute in this way.
As our Parish buildings age, additional repairs and maintenance become necessary and, at the same time, there is a continuing need to replace plant and equipment as it reaches the end of its useful life. These capital works projects continue to grow and put pressure on our finances.
The Parish needs to be able to fund:
- Everyday expenses of administration, staff wages and utilities.
- Pastoral expenses (Sacramental programs, Catechists in State Schools, Youth Ministry, RCIA).
- General maintenance for two locations: Painting and upkeep of building surfaces; Repairs to furniture; Waterproofing.
- Major project capital works at two locations.
For continued financial viability, our Parish needs effective support for the Planned Giving Program and/or we need to increase average weekly planned donation amounts.
You may submit your credit or debit card account details by making contact with the Parish office. The form available at the link below may be completed electronically and returned to the office by email, post or in person.
