Women ambassadors to the Holy See
There are now a significant number of female ambassadors to the Holy See. They represent a diverse group of countries from every continent. The group recently met at Villa Bonaparte, the French Embassy to the Holy See, to discuss activities for the 2024 year.
The images below are a glimpse into that gathering. The Australian ambassador, Chiara Porro, is second from the right in the second image and the host, French ambassador Florence Mangin, is second from the right in the first image.
The Holy See is the jurisdiction of the Pope in his role as the Bishop of Rome. It includes the apostolic see of the Diocese of Rome which has ecclesiastical jurisdiction over the Catholic Church and sovereignty over the city-state of Vatican City. The Holy See has the status of a sovereign juridical entity under international law.
