Australia Day weekend Vinnies Bushfire Appeal
Catholic parishes across Australia will take up special, dedicated collections for the St Vincent de Paul Society Vinnies Bushfire Appeal on the Australia Day long weekend.
People have been generous with offers of help, but cash is urgently needed to help provide necessities such as food, fuel, and clothing.
The scope of the bushfire disaster is unprecedented. Vinnies volunteers and staff are working across all states affected by the crisis as part of an integrated, community response the government can call upon immediately, and in the weeks and months ahead. Vinnies is working with other agencies to support people whose lives have been devastated by the fires. Vinnies is also working with Catholic Religious Australia, Catholic Social Services Australia, the National Catholic Education Commission and Catholic Health Australia in a joint effort.
Bushfire appeal donations from the parish on the Australia Day weekend will be directed to the St Vincent de Paul Society National Council Gift Fund and distributed to affected communities as a matter of urgency. Every cent donated goes to people in need. There is no extraction for fees, administration or other costs.
We encourage everyone to give generously to support Vinnies working in communities devastated by the crisis.
Come prepared for the Australia Day weekend appeal.
