Yes, You Too Could be a Catechist
Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Mark 10:14
There is a shortage of volunteers instructing Catholic children in public schools within our area. Public schools in NSW offer Special Religious Education each week via a volunteer group. You do not need a PhD in theology. All you need is enthusiasm and a "can-do" attitude. Training is provided (predominantly online) together with on-going support. Teacher manuals, student workbooks, and resources are all provided.
A Catechist, or Scripture Teacher, brings the message of God's kingdom by delivering quality Special Religious Education to Catholic students in State Government schools.

Our Parish is in need of new scripture teachers. Some of our classes are large. Our Parish has under its care five state schools: Pymble, West Pymble, Gordon East, Gordon West, and Turramurra. Unfortunately, we are not able to staff all of the associated classes.
If you have ever thought about becoming a catechist, now is a good time to respond and make an enquiry. Age is no barrier, students are welcome. The maximum commitment is one hour per week.
If you are retired, at university, have flexible working arrangements or just seeking a way to give back to the community, please join us.
Please contact Michele in the Parish office at 02 9144 2702 for a commitment free discussion.
