Peter’s Pence Collection
On the weekend of 6-7 July 2024, we join with many parishes across the World in the Peter’s Pence Collection which goes back to Medieval times. The Peter’s Pence Collection provides for the charitable works and structures of mercy identified by Pope Francis.
By supporting this collection, you join with others across the world in supporting urgent projects including emergency assistance to those in need due to natural disasters, communities impacted by conflict, oppression and disease. In recent times, support has gone to people in Ukraine, Lithuania, Tanzania, the Philippines, Iraq, Haiti, the Republic of Congo, South Sudan and Brazil among others. Our generosity allows the Pope to respond with love and compassion to those suffering.
The Peter’s Pence appeal has been severely impacted by World events and your support will be gratefully received by the Holy See.
Of the €103 million disbursed by the Peter’s Pence Fund in 2023, €90 million was used to support activities in service of the Pope's apostolic mission and €13 million to support projects of direct assistance to those most in need: families, dioceses, parishes and religious institutes in need; migrants and refugees; populations affected by war and famine; communities affected by adverse consequences of climate change; and those in need of humanitarian assistance. Additionally, the Fund supported 236 individual projects in 76 countries, disbursing a total of €13 million. The Fund contributed €5.4 million to 68 projects in Africa, €2.4 million to 100 projects in Europe; €2.8 million to 33 projects in Asia; €2.3 million to 34 projects in the Americas; and €0.1 million to one project in Oceania.
