October is a month of special significance for Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, particularly as we celebrate our feast day. This year, we invite you to join us for a day of celebration and community on Sunday, October 6th, starting from 9 AM.
Over the past year or two, we have focused on events that foster prayer, fellowship, and a sense of community, something our parish has been strengthening since COVID. Here's what you can expect for our early OLOR Feast Day celebration:
1. 9 AM Rosary, led by Fr Brendan
- With everyone's busy lives, we seldom get the chance to pray with our priests outside of Mass. To help prepare for our feast, Fr. Brendan will lead us through the Glorious Mysteries of the Rosary.
2. 9:30 AM: Mass
- Join us for Mass and immediately after, we will have a special offering and dedication to Mary, where parishioners will be invited to lay flowers at the OLOR statue on the forecourt.
3. Parish BBQ and Fellowship
- Following the dedication, we will host a Parish BBQ. This is a great opportunity to come together, share a meal, and enjoy each other’s company. Please bring a plate to share and join in the fellowship.
4. Kids' Activities, led by the OLOR Youth Group
- To make the day enjoyable for all ages, the OLOR Youth Group will lead fun and engaging activities for kids. This is a wonderful chance for our younger parishioners to participate in the celebration, feel a part of the community, and get to know the Youth Team.
5. 11:00 AM: Mass
- For those who missed the earlier Mass, we will have another Mass at 11:00 AM. Following this Mass, there will be another opportunity for an offering and dedication to Mary.
Special Features of the Day
Offering/Dedication to Mary
- After each Mass and led by Fr Brendan, parishioners are encouraged to participate in an offering to Mary by laying flowers at the OLOR statue. This act of devotion is a beautiful way to honour Our Lady, and seek her intercession.
Community Fellowship
- The Parish BBQ is more than just a meal; it’s a chance to strengthen our bonds as a parish family. Whether you’re new to the community or a long-time member, your presence will enrich our celebration.
Youth Involvement
- The OLOR Youth Group plays a vital role in our parish, and their leadership in organising activities for the children helps instil a sense of faith and community in our vibrant youth.
