In Focus: The Men's Rosary

Since late 2023, inspired by the Archdiocese of Sydney’s Maximus Men’s Rosary Crusade, men from Hornsby Cathedral Parish (HCP) have been gathering to strengthen their connection with God through prayer and build fellowship with one another.
As a growing number of men are doing worldwide, they meet on the first Saturday of each month to pray the Rosary. The HCP Men’s Rosary is a call to prayer and brotherhood, offering reparation and repentance to God on the ‘First Saturday’ of each month in honour of Our Lady of Fatima.
Their purpose is to:

Encouraging Men to Embrace Prayer: Through the power of the Rosary and the model of Our Lady of Fatima, they build closer relationships with Jesus and experience the transformative power of prayer.

Fostering a Spirit of Reparation: they recognise the need for repentance and pray in reparation for the sins of men, especially those affecting women, and a general decline in our faith. We acknowledge the growing distance of Australian men from God and seek to bridge this gap through prayer and devotion.

Building a Strong Brotherhood: The Men's Rosary provides a space for men to connect, share experiences, and support one another in their faith journey. This sense of fraternity strengthens their resolve to live as Christian men in the world.

The HCP Men's Rosary is part of the wider men's rosary movement in Australia and around the world. Our core values are spiritual renewal, responsibility, renewed faith, and a non-confrontational approach. Our mission is based on prayer and positive action, not confrontation or judgment.

The HCP Men's Rosary group gathers on the first Saturday of every month at 8:00 AM in the OLOR Nulty Room for fellowship, followed by the Rosary at 8:30 AM. This schedule reflects the Fatima Message (see below), and following the Rosary, attendees can participate in other spiritual activities at OLOR if they wish, including confession, adoration, and Holy Mass.

“We warmly welcome all men to join and pray with us. Even if you cannot attend in person, you can still pray the Rosary with us in spirit every first Saturday.” Dave Armstrong, Men's Rosary Leader.
If you’d like more information, get in touch with our group leader, Dave, on 0459 848 496, or Lawrence, on 0404 722 941. Alternatively, join us on the first Saturday of the month at 8:00 AM in the OLOR Nulty Room, with the Rosary starting at 8:30 AM. You don’t need to book… just show up!

More About Fatima and the First Saturday Devotion

At Fatima, Our Lady promised to grant the “graces necessary for salvation” for all those who, on five consecutive first Saturdays of the month, in a spirit of reparation:

  • Receive the Eucharist

  • Go to confession

  • Pray the Rosary

  • Meditate for 15 minutes on the mysteries of the Rosary

The first Saturdays correspond to the five kinds of offences and blasphemies committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The devotions of each First Saturday are offered in reparation for:

  • Blasphemies against the Immaculate Conception

  • Blasphemies against her virginity

  • Blasphemies against her divine maternity, and the refusal to accept her as the Mother of all men

  • Instilling indifference, scorn, and even hatred towards this Immaculate Mother in the hearts of children

  • Direct insults against her sacred images.

Join us and become part of a movement that nurtures faith, fosters community, and honours Our Lady's call to prayer and reparation.
