The Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) is inspired by the Holy Spirit and connected in Jesus Christ who is the way, the truth and at the centre of our lives and ministry. The CCD exists to bring the message of God's kingdom to Catholic students who attend public schools. Catechists (SRE teachers) provide Catholic Special Religious Education – also known as Scripture – to children and young people on a regular basis.

The Catechists in our Diocese undertake a vital evangelising role, educating children and young people and forming them in the Catholic faith. The CCD offers training designed to assist the Special Religious Education catechist in the development of the knowledge, skills and understanding required to teach SRE in government schools in the diocese. Training covers such topics as classroom management, Safeguarding/child protection, including mandatory reporting requirements, curriculum, teaching methods, child/adolescent development, the Scriptures, church and spirituality.

If you have ever thought about becoming a Catechist, now is a good time to respond and make an enquiry. Contact the CCD office on 8379 1642 or the parish office on 4332 2216.
