CHRISTMAS IN JULY LUNCHEON 2019
The ‘Christmas in July’ Luncheon, held at St Peter’s Catholic College on Tuesday, 2nd July, was, as to be expected, very well attended and definitely enjoyed by approximately seventy five parishioners from St John Fisher’s and St Cecilia’s community.
In a festive atmosphere and to the sound of Christmas carols, beautifully sung by talented students, participants enjoyed a main course of chicken, ham, savoury meat-balls, roast vegetables and beans. This was followed by a dessert of sticky date pudding and ice-cream or, a definite favourite, Christmas pudding and custard. Restaurant-style coffees, made by budding baristas in the busy kitchen, were in plentiful supply throughout the meal and enjoyed by many.
Hospitality students, under the supervision of their generous teachers, displayed their skills and expertise by presenting exceptional cuisine which was served, in a very professional manner, by students involved in the Youth Ministry. Lucky door prizes, raffles and the mandatory Santa Claus visit added to the fun and frivolity. We express our sincere thanks to Mr Michael Tobin for his organisation in this area and, particularly, his setting up of a beautifully decorated, Christmas –themed dining room.
Parishioners would especially like to thank Mr Tim Hildebrandt, the Principal of St Peter’s Catholic College, for his continuing kindness and hospitality in hosting the luncheon again, this year, and to Mr Peter Higgins, Assistant Principal, who, as always, was most instrumental in the organisation of this function.
Our special thanks go to all the College Staff who were involved in the preparation, but, particularly, to those in hospitality, who continue to amaze us with their time, generosity and efforts to provide all of us with a wonderful meal and a delightful experience. To all those students, who, once again, excelled in so many areas, their culinary skills, their positive, professional and happy manner and their many fine and exceptional talents, we offer a very heart-felt and sincere’ thank you’.
We are very proud of our local Catholic College and look forward to continuing the special connection we have with its staff and students.
