Once again, in an atmosphere of festivity and conviviality, about ninety of our parishioners enjoyed a delicious luncheon provided by the Staff and students of St Peter’s Catholic College. A dining area, festooned with Christmas decorations, and members of the College choir singing Christmas Carols, welcomed us at mid-day and gave an indication of the very pleasant experience we would enjoy over the next few hours.
Our three course meal, cooked by senior Hospitality students, was delicious and served in a very professional manner by the students in the Youth Ministry team. Guests were treated to pumpkin or tomato soup, a main course of chicken, ham, baked vegetables, peas, broccoli and carrots, and a choice of desserts; Christmas pudding and custard or Sticky Date Pudding, caramel sauce and cream – definitely a mouth-watering experience! We thank Mrs Christine Higgins for her generosity in making the delicious Christmas puddings.
Eight lucky door prizes added to the festive atmosphere. Also a raffle, with prizes generously donated by parishioners, Mr Frank and Mrs Francis Costa and staff member, Mr Michael Tobin, allowed us to raise $200.00 towards the work of the Social Justice Group. A big thank you goes to those who gave the gifts and to all those who bought tickets.
We would especially like to thank Mr Tim Hildebrandt, the Principal of St Peter’s, for his kindness and generosity in hosting the Luncheon again this year, the College Staff who always put such an effort in to ensuring our parishioners enjoy a very special afternoon and the Students who, once again, showcased their extraordinary talents and generously gave of their time and energy to make it a wonderful Christmas in July Luncheon for the parish communities of St John Fisher and St Cecilia’s.
