Becoming Catholic

Welcome; we'd love to hear from you.

Are you exploring becoming Catholic?  Perhaps you are married to a Catholic, perhaps you are a friend of a Catholic, perhaps you have heard of Jesus Christ and discerned that God is calling you, or perhaps you’re just searching, knowing that there is something more to life, even if you don’t know what that something “more” is yet. We are excited to hear from you, no matter where you are on your journey.

Getting to know Jesus and understanding Catholic faith is a journey which takes time, so we want to accompany you in your journey. We’ll invite you to join one of our friendly groups where you can learn to pray, learn more about Jesus, and meet people who can help answer your questions. This group will help you to belong to the church community. This might be at the Alpha program, our Friday morning bible study, our Thursday night Men Alive group or our Wednesday night prayer group. If you’re under 30 we’d point you towards one of our young adults groups.

There’s no hurry. You can take as long as you need with your group while you discern your readiness to make a commitment as a disciple of Jesus. Then, when you’re ready and your group is ready to recommend you, you’ll join a group called RCIA to specifically prepare for baptism or whichever sacraments you need.

Our New Parishioner Engagement Coordinator Belinda Shi will coordinate this process of enquiry, discernment and accompaniment. You can contact her Belinda.Shi@bbcatholic.org.au  or phone 0414 753 362.
